WEEK ONE

Day 1 - Flight to Beijing to Dalian

sunday

A trip to a land I've never been

With the company of many

In the Airport at 7am

Actual flight at 930 am

Arrival at beijing
Dined on noodles and tea

Alas, what different taste they behold...

From beijing to dalian

From lugguages to coaches

The rain poured

Whilst the wind howled...

yet, safely we reached

dry and warm

from people that came to receive us

the welcoming was strong...

And the accomodations:

I must say, the facilities are impressive..

Day 2- Orientation and tour of the school

monday

Had breakfast in the school's canteen. the dietary difference starts to sink i n. it wasn't really bad. just, different.

after that, we headed for orientation and the orientation ceremony.

Learnt about Dalian Polytechnic University and its history in the school's museum.

headed back and out for some grocery shopping.

took a bus to the very last stop and guess what.. the strong cold wind greeted us yet again. this time, it was way cold..Hence we ran into one of the nearest shopping centre and up into the food court for some dinner..

After dinner, it was shopping at walmart. got some foodstuff and daily necessities.headed back to the school after we finished. the bus was packed and by that i mean really packed...

Day 3- tour round the school and class starts..

tuesday

tour around the campus in the morning. the morning breeze definitely shook us up...

the campus is like a IT park. food, drinks, laundry, sports courts, library etc.. are all in one location. even accomodations for sleeping is included.

class soon started. we had g.e.m.s that afternoon. the lecture was given by a professor of the school. his profession is of law. he delivered the lecture in english and highlighted musch interesting stuff that Dalian beholds. interesting location such as the strange slope was mentioned. it is a place where water from stream looks like it's flowing up but in actual fact, it is not. it has something to do with optical illusion i presume..

after that, it was dinner.. we had steamboat at a restaurant near the school. it was greatly affordable and delicious. i must say, the portion of the serving made me smile with satisfaction....

oh. one more thing.. strawberries sold in the campus are sweet and lowly priced. it's the season~

Day 4- Class starts..*OMG

wednesday

as said.. lessons started. first was design studio. almost half the lesson was used to solve the problem of getting hooked online.. then the launch of T1.. *shivers*

the brief require us to design a place where students can study and socialise . the site is the mezzanine of the school's library...

then came the submission requirements and all. it was lunch time and soon, we headed to site and did our site analysis and measurements. learnt about the difference in a curtain wall and a window.. and after much, we headed back to the hostel for some sleep after dinner.

Day 5- Field trip

thursday

intech lecture started the day. it was on masonry construction and detailing... and, homework came.. *slaps forehead*

after lunch was to ASCENDAS, an IT industrial park. their concept was " work, live,play" very much like Bangalore tech park though..











soon, it was to a shopping mall named: peace plaza. it's very much like the malls of orchard road in singapore. the stuff are rather expensive though. also, friends got gelatto.. one interesting flavour was the black banana..










did some grocery shopping for breakfast and some stocking up..
hey.. it's cold here, nothing wrong with stocking food...*pouts*



Day 6- Fields trip

NOTE: homework untouched. concept unthought of... DIE~

so, we headed into Dalian's modern museum. over there,we learnt about the history of dalian. Also, we saw details of glass staircase... (random)












after the tour there, we were off to the strange slope. however.. it was raining quite a bit and hence, it was cancelled. we headed directly for lunch after deciding to visit it another day.

lunch was fulfilling. so much better than those that we had for the past few days. *yums*


and again, due to the rain, the plans of the itinerary was cancelled. we headed to a mall for some shopping.. made our way to the furniture mall and saw some interesting furniture, layout and also home accesssories. to TESCO for more grocery shopping..


had ice-cream in the wind.. aint as cold as many would think. it was like eating / swallowing the cold air here..


Day 6- Fields trip
friday

Today's the day to do some work and clear the pile. did my 3d modeling (chair)
dated my buddy* for dinner.. did some concept discussion with my project partner, sharon..

and met our buds for some time out of campus. they brought us out to dine on something called " chun1 bing3" it is rather similar to the popiah in singapore. those that you have in restaurant kind.. not those from the hawker centre. however, over here, it's not the regular popiah skin.. it's more of a really thin slice of roti prata as the crust..























it was an awesome meal.. due to the late meet up, we headed back to the campus after ice-cream..

* my buddy's a girl who will be helping me and guiding me through this time in dalian.. met her on tuesday actually...
